About Lynn's Chins
Lynn's Chins is a small hobby chinchilla herd, located in Sidney, NY. I (Lynn) have had alot of different color chinchillas in the past and have decided to focus on beige and standard gray chinchillas. On occasion I will have a few mosaic, violet and ebony kits. All of these chinchillas can be seen under My Chinchillas.
Chinchillas bring me a lot of joy; I do not have any children so taking care of this small herd satisfies my need to nurture. I find it very relaxing to watch them interact with each other and their surroundings. I have recently started to attend chinchilla shows. I have decided to focus on a few colors instead of having 1 of every color. My goal is to learn the qualities needed to produce desirable animals.
History of Lynn's Chins
My chinchilla adventure started in 1988 when I was 8; a relative gave me 2 retired females from his large herd. My parents then bought me 2 young females and 1 male. All of these chinchillas were standard gray. I raised and bred those females. I sold the chinchillas thru the newspaper because computers and the internet where not household items at that time. I sold all of my chins when I was in high school. Lynn's Chins was reborn in April 2007 after I had attended college and became settled with my own place and a steady job. I bought 5 chinchillas, from someone locally, then started buying from reputable breeders.
I have always loved animals, growing up I continually had animals around and now I work on a dairy farm. At home I have 3 cats, 2 tanks of fish and my chinchillas. I thought I would want a large number of chinchillas but I had my first baby boom (17 kits in 2 months) and was overwhelmed. I didn't feel like I was giving the individual chins enough attention. So now I am looking forward to spending time with each litter that is born, by spreading the due dates thru out the year.
